Held at Spencer House in London, this meeting looked at the contribution that the arts could play as a driver of social change. It was divided into three main themes: financing the arts, popularising the arts and deepening knowledge of the arts.
In the struggle against self-destruction in today’s dangerous world, the arts were an obvious means to reinforce the forces of self-preservation, and they acted as an integrator between rich and poor, old and young, and on a global scale between different cultures and societies. Cultural diplomacy deserved to be recognised and supported as an instrument of international relations.
